About

Democratic theory makes demands of citizens in pursuit of a healthy democracy. In my research, I ask how equipped citizens are to meet those demands, with a focus on political behavior, political psychology, and political communication. My work follows two broad branches. In the first, I study how changes in context effect citizens across an array of outcomes, including information processing, social norms, and attitudes toward minority groups. In the second, I study the factors, both inside and outside of politics, that shape whether citizens engage with politics at all, including NFL team performance and election outcomes. To answer these questions, I rely on survey experiments, text analysis, and observational data.

I am a fifth-year PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at Stony Brook University, where I am advised by Dr. Eric Groenendyk. I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2022 with a double major in Political Science and International Affairs.
